Article in this weekend's Barrons about Deluxe (the check printers). It mentions Checkfree in a positive way.

The Link: interactive.wsj.com
The Title: Deluxe's Divide - Can a check printer bounce happily into the electronic age?

A Quote:
Weil estimates that it costs a utility or credit-card company $1.01 to process a check in-house, and 43 cents for a third-party processor like Deluxe to do the same. In contrast, an automated clearinghouse debit transaction costs 64 cents to process in-house, he says, and about 17 cents to outsource.

But even that business is being threatened, to some extent, by other payment systems, such as online-based CheckFree Holdings, a back-office processor for electronic banking, whose stock soared on rumors, later confirmed, that it would link up with a big Internet portal, presumed to be Yahoo.
