What would have been wrong with selling your KO in the 80's and buying it back in the 60's? Watching a stock go up and down nets you nothing. Of course one would not necessarily have known that it would go back down, although it was obviously very overpriced in the 80's. I don't mean to be critical, I think maybe a buy and hold strategy is different from a trading strategy. In today's volatile market, a buy and hold attitude might be very dangerous.
