I don't understand the regulatory difference between the December 1997 decision, and the one released last week. I thought this had been approved. Did they change the regulation significantly?

IBP commented that they would most likely build an in-house electron beam facility. From their comments in the WSJ, they didn't appear to want to sub-contract out the operation. Still, STER could build and service the facility, if they win the contract.

It would seem to me that this is why we haven't seen a huge pop in these stocks after the announcement. Irradiation of food, IMHO, is a slow and steady growth business. STER does a good job and makes a good profit in medical devices. I hope they don't neglect that business chasing the food industry.
