<<I've learned the hard way to take profit in it when it's presented.>>>
An excellent move...
I still have a keen desire to find a way around those
once or twice a year drops in Dell so am always interested in thread comments such as provided by others like Don Martini in regard to selling puts, etc.
I think its safe to say we will (generally)see Dell go down on the Thurs and Friday before earnings week, since its happened at least three times now with 8 points, 8 points, 12 points.
"They" may be onto us bulls and our excessive expectations at
earnings time, and are taking advantage of the situation.
Having been 'burned' several times in the past on options
I may have learned now not to count on an uninterrupted progression to say $120 (in this case). So my Feb options have a strike of 100 or less ( except for 1 at 105) and are still alive.
Calling a top on Dell is difficult at best, and I refused to sell any last year because of taxes as the cost basis of my first 1280
shares is ~$2.67.
Everyone has their own best key to success. In my case its
buying Dell when it has a high price and yet was undervalued.
I bought perhaps 25% of the shares I own when Dell was (supposedly overvalued) at between 100 and 112 prior to the last split.
So last week ( and luckily starting on Weds) I sold all but a few of my 'play' stocks and bgt Dell at 103,101,93, and 91.
Now I am faced with the prospect of watching those crazy web
stocks 'do their thing' without any significant investment there.
Will just sit in my cave and read Mohan's daily reports until Dell gets back over 110 or the fat lady shows up to sing at one of the Dell parties.
