Good Morning Chuck, Please forgive me my lack of consideration for the thread by posting anything that may have to do with DGIV. Hell, what was I thinking? I was up very late last night and my head is a little foggy. I offer no other excuse than " I AM A DGIVaholic"
I am thinking I will call DGIV on Tuesday and see if there is a problem with me going to the offices next Friday with the rest of the group attending, That is if they will allow me to. I missed Sam when he was in Vegas for the holidays since I was out of town myself but I would like to meet him and MR.D. and anyone else who may be attending.
Take care my friend and enjoy the weekend. MarkC.

Looks like China is going to take a major step towards improving their internet capacity. The thing I found interesting is the countries they will be connected with through the A-Bone; Do these countries sound familiar to anyone else ?. My GUESS is this is the backbone we will be using in the pacific rim. MarkC.

China Telecom Connects To A-Bone
TOKYO, JAPAN, 1999 FEB 11 (Newsbytes) -- By Martyn Williams, Newsbytes. China's state-run telco, China Telecom, has signed an agreement with Asia Internet Holding Co. (AIH) that will see its Internet backbone connected at 2 megabits per second to the A-Bone regional Internet backbone by the end of March this year.

"The connection will be between Tokyo and Shanghai," an AIH spokesperson told Newsbytes. "China Telecom's main purpose for the link is to get better access to the Japanese market. Traffic between Japan and China is increasing and that's why they took a link to the A-Bone."

China Telecom is currently connected to Japan via a 256 kilobit per second connection with KDD Corp. [TOKYO:9431] and to other Asian carriers through similar connections. The agreement, signed Thursday in Beijing, signifies the first time China Telecom is interconnecting with a regional Internet service provider rather than with a telecommunications carrier.

With the connection, the A-Bone links to ten nations in Asia, all hubbed via Tokyo. Connections include Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Japan's Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) is a major shareholder in the backbone operator.
