Dispel the notion that Real Networks should be a takeover target.
RNWK will be one of the true winners within the folly of Internet stocks.
The Internet's gonna be gigantic, we all know that.
How soon it happens is another question.
Patience.

PS this response was much longer but I cut it out.
I didn't want to sound like a jerk.

The jest of that response involve the relationships that have been built within the industry over the last decade. The complexity of these relationships will remain.

Let's take this a step further, Technologyguy.

Frankly, I don't think it's really a question of *whether* to be taken over for RNWK--or even at what price. It's a question of by whom and where it leads. A merger is inevitable because RNWK fits into a much larger metaphor. Generally viewed as a software company, RNWK will not likely see the multiple expansion that allows it to make megabuck stock-for-stock acquisitions. On the other hand, the acquisition of RNWK by someone else can be accretive to the acquirer. Harmon's call is sensible, but not at all certain.

Let's pursue the streaming media search engine business. It's very important. Let me ask you what you know about XCIT's streaming media search engine and how it compares to the product of a private company, FasTV.com. Does XCIT own this thing or is it some sort of strategic relationship? Are there other "video/multimedia search" products out there?
