Gary, I've thought the rankings were, in descending order, Strong Buy, Buy, Market Outperform, Market Perform, Accumulate, Neutral, Hold, Sell...with the last three being euphemisms for dump it; the next three are in the damning with faint praise category; the next two a Hmmm, and Strong Buy maybe something to do some checking on (but not necessarily<G>).
But if you look at DELL, or just about any other stock with several analysts giving "coverage," you'll quickly come to see that there's much divergence in the ratings, which translates as much ado about nothing, IMHO (at least for my personal investing - they do seem to have an impact on the Street "professionals").
