I personally think the volatility goes up in the 2nd and 3rd week before exp. as the MMs try to shake the branches to try to get weak hands to sell/buy. That is why I expect next week to be fairly quiet. Typically the MMs are not in a position to rebalance their hedges with only a week to go so the market tends to stay right where it ends the week before exp.
