RE: <<the company had "a fabulous finish to the year," said BancBoston Robertson Stephens analyst Daniel Niles. Niles officially projects Dell will post earnings of 30 cents a share on revenue of $5.47 billion for the quarter, although he said the company's earnings will probably come in closer to 32 cents to 33 cents a share and its revenue will likely be over $5.5 billion.">>

Great detective work, Lockeon!!!

Someone should fax this to CNBC and urge them to track down Niles (wonder if he'll still be travelin' on Tuesday) After all, Niles deserves a forum to explain the rationale for his flip-flop, right? Why wasn't the end of the quarter so "fabulous" after all? Did some new information come to light in the past 11 days that caused such a dramatic change in sentiment? He must have a very good explanation, right? After all, he's not just some junior analyst.

CNBC would probably never follow up on the lead (I think they'd be delighted to see Dell drop another 12 points.....that keeps people tuned in, doesn't it?) But they should. This is quite a story.

Lockeon, i just read your post re niles/rob-stvens
dell statement 11 days ago. have not read responses to your
post but am inclined to join in with any others who want
to pressure cnbc or rob/stevens for an explanation. at the
very least we might ho[pe for press exposure that would minimize
liklihood for this apparently blatant manipulation in future

i understand that small fries like me need to watch out for my
own $s and the above may be incredibly naive but agree 100%
that something is f i s h y here

What one man (Daniel Niles) can invent, another (Lockeon) can discover.

My dear Lockeon, there we come into those realms of conjecture (we believe) where the most logical mind may be at fault.

With apologies to SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE, from the lips of Sherlock Holmes.

Lockeon, please do the Dellheads another favor. Bar the doors of the Instinet Tuesday P.M. and the NAZ Wednesday A.M., and do not disturb the bears in the middle of their dreams.

Thank you and good day!
