Hi, John, RE: placer gold hot spots in Mass., look in Franklin Cty: around both Couch & Keets Brooks, near Bernardston, as well as Maxwell Brook, near Charlemont. Then there's the Gold Mine Brook near Blandford, over in Hampden County... You'll find ole prospectors there, ...that is, IFFEN you don't wanna build a good relationship w/me via snail mail(vbgrin)

RE: Your 1/10ths besides A/Eagles is a very good question. You'll find out here in the rest o'the world, the coin dealers have hiked up the .999 Chinese Year of Abundance 1/10ths (click on link below for the darling image of the plump little chinese girl holding an even plumper GOI on her chubby little lap they are using for this year's obverse imagery) worldaccessnet.com
...and have hiked the prices of the Maple 1/10ths as well, basically
your other two gold bullion 1/10th choices.

However, I'm fortunate to have in my possession a full color 21 page
brochure showing dang near all the bullion coins and bars, currently in circulation, globally, (except the new Chinese one I just gave you for free on the URL above.) I make these available because I own my own CANON CLC-200 Color LASER copier. All who want one, PM me for detail$. Cheap insurance/education!!

Not only are the all 21 pages of the gold bullion coins AND BARS shown in their exact sizes, but their weights in oz AND grams, their purity/fineness, dimensions in mm et al are also given for each nation who currently has gold bullion on the market. All who want one for their own personal Post Y2K use when transacting business with "unfamiliar" gold coins will have a leg up in identifying what they are being offered, and knowing if it is the real thing or not.

And please, John, since you (as well as others) are serious about doing business with gold as currency, post y2k, get ahold of a chemical gold and silver test kit. YOU ARE GOING TO NEED IT, both as a consumer and as a goods or services provider, accepting gold in exchange, ok? An image of the one most all of us in the business use can be found by clicking worldaccessnet.com

Another thing you can do for yourself is head out to your garage toolbox, (or over to your rav fav hardware store) and pick up one of those micrometers (mine is 3" long, brass, fits into a shirt pocket).
You'll need a mike to take dimension measurements if a bar or coin doesn't quite look or feel quite right, even after you place it onto the 21 pg color brochure images above.

Glad to help.

PS...the hot spots in Vermont are even more numerous...would you believe about 100 of them?
