Sorry i might have made an error in part of my statement. When that injunction against MSFT's MS-Java was issued, I remember reading that MSFT has licensed Java but that SUN can cancel. I don't remember the time frame--whether the license deal expired at the end of 1998 (and renewable) or sometime later. There is definately an expiry date--maybe it has passed or it might be this year. SUN can decide if they want to renew it or not--the same goes for MSFT. You might want to check out the news stories from that time period. HOWEVER, I AM SURE I READ IT. As they are negotiating that lawsuit as ordered by the judge, this story about another language might be a backup plan if the settlement is not too favorable to MSFT. Maybe this new language is a negotiating tool to settle that lawsuit. BTW- I read every news article on MSFT that is significant. Sorry I don't print and store them. The above point i did see in a couple of news reports from major newswires(from RTR, PR etc.)
