I don't know why you would be surprised at my characterization of your message to me, E. You continue to twist my words in a way that I really think is unfair, having judged me without knowing me as well, which I have pointed out several times to you. Your latest example is in quoting this paragraph from my last post to you: <<Well, E, now I think I am beginning to understand an essential difference in our feelings about the death penalty, after your saying to X that when you read about murderers you want to kill them, that you want revenge, and to have the person die slowly if it is a particularly brutal murder.>> You do not acknowledge that I am simply restating your words without any spin at all, and without considering the paragraph directly below it, which is a compliment to the motives of the anti-death penalty advocates--" <I am NOT going to make this personal by making assumptions about you, but one aspect of the anti-death penalty crowd that had not occurred to me is that many of them may be wanting to fight having feelings like this, and being conscientious and loving and wanting to grow, they then espouse not murdering murderers because they feel it is a more evolved path to be on.> What you utterly fail to acknowledge is that you poisoned and polarized an interesting intellectual discussion on the issues by becoming personal and alleging that I had been damaged by my views on the death penalty. I think it is really outrageous for you to make such as assumption, but definitely agree that there is no reason to continue this (although for different reasons than you state).
