After reading Prodigys web page I suspect that they have no intention of stopping @ 19.95 per month. It looks like extra fees in the future for special access to planned new features.A hunch,I could be wrong, time will tell.

Prodigy is only offering the $9 price as an introductory, short term offer for people to give Prodigy a try. This price is only good for three months, after which a subscriber has to pay $19.95 per month--unless he/she pays for a whole year up-front, in which case it works out to $15.95/month.

It is only my opinion, but I think AOL and Prodigy will appeal to different audiences. Attrition of current AOL members to Prodigy I suspect will be minimal. For a person buying a PC and getting on-line for the first time, AOL has more to offer.

The main thing to watch will be how Prodigy reports the number of people it signs on. Their 3 months at $9 could easily result in artificial numbers since I do think a lot of people will grab this 'bargain'--and then move on to another IP provider.

One thing I do not like about AOL, from the perspective of an IP shopper, is that it is not easy to find their pricing on the AOL home page. I could be wrong, but it looks as if one has to download version 4.0 to get information on terms and pricing.
