Tim,

Thanks for the greetings!

One of the reasons I left the thread for so long was my perception that the thread was developing into some kind of sports cheerleading section, with the attendant "say no bad about my team, else you are Evil" thought and behavior patterns.

No, I have nothing bad to say about DELL. <gg> But a case in point is the response that we saw this past week when DELL received a couple of downgrades immediately prior to earnings announcement. Analysts from two fairly well respected firms were accused of manipulation here. (I'm not saying it wasn't, either.) But instead of wasting time and space crying "Heretics!", are we not better served by analyzing what they said, and what the validity of their arguments might be?

DELL carries an extremely high historic valuation, which should be a cause for taking greater care in objectively evaluating its potential, not an excuse to turn the drumbeat louder, and drown out opposing voices with volume.

Here are some of my current concerns. I have been absent too long and don't know who has said what about
* resurgence of AAPL (and somewhat better competition by GTW)
* economic conditions in Brasil and China, and Southeast Asia
* increased competition from Chinese computer makers in China
* increased power, capabilities, and proliferation of the palm-pilot type computer
* DELL's forward looking plans to maintain and garner increasing market share
* DELL's greatly increased advertising campaign. Has anyone attempted to determine a return on the cost?
* DELL's product pipeline. (Am typing this on a DELL Inspiron 3500 bought last week)

That said, I can see by the sheer number of posts since I started reading that I am NOT going to be able to read all of them, or even most of them. Anyone have a content filter, easy to use and install?

thanks, 3.
