Sarmad--there are a couple of other ways. LTCM, the hedge that helped set us up for Oct., is part of the brave new world of short gold sales -- nobody seems sure, but estimated at 8,000 to 14,000 tons, borrowed at super low rates, sold, and then used as a base for all manner of high octane derivative game playing. This is a back door form of liquidity. The gold is being 'loaned' by central banks -- 'sold', although not delivered. This is very explosive, because the short position must be managed to keep the lid on. Imagine trying to cover that thing in a liquidity squeeze!! Avoiding that was one of the keys to prevent meltdown last October. Did you notice Abelson today saying -- sell the nets and buy gold? If you make a killing short AMZN next week, you might want to roll it into calls on NEM -- <VBG>.

Someone complained the thread was quiet, and said it meant the stock is doomed. :)

I do not know about the 20,50,70,etc. day moving average. But what is so special about midnight eastern time? I enjoy the debate while it is occurring but after working, midnight is getting a bit late for me. I missed post 40,000 and a debate again. Sheesh LOL. There were about 30 posts between 11:30 PM and 1 AM eastern.
