IBM And Sears still have stakes in Prodigy

No they don't. Read the stories that I linked in with my original post. As they, IBM and Sears sold their stakes in 1996. Here's the significant 'graphs from the zdNet story:

"Prodigy Inc. today said it has received $49 million in new financing from Tel,fonos de M,xico, expanding its financial ties with investors south of the border.

"The Internet access service has been backed by groups affiliated with Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim since May 1996.

"Slim, who originally backed U.S. investor Greg Carr in the estimated $200 million purchase of Prodigy from IBM Corp. and Sears Roebuck & Co. more than two years ago, has gradually been increasing his hold on the service. In September, the company installed former SBC Communications Inc. executive Samer Salameh, who had worked managing the long-distance business of Tel,fonos de M,xico.

"Both SBC and Slim are key financial backers of Telmex."
