Another consideration is how much new exploration is taking place? My sense is that most of the drilling is taking place on known or close to know fields. Without new exploration, reserves will shrink.

It appears to me that for the most part companies are trying to keep their head above water by the safest means possible. Drill for gas in the lowest risk, least expensive areas possible. Buy it rather than drill if possible. Just about everyone wants to be 60% natural gas.

I don't follow the US industry that close. Someone can correct me but it seems there are a lot of small, low profit Ma and Pop operations that have been pretty much taken out lately.
