OT** I couldn't agree more...

Not only the level of responsibility, but you don't stop being a doctor when you leave the hospital/clinic. You are frequently called in the middle of the night, on weekends, etc.

Doctors go to school for 25 years, and have to keep up with continuing education for the rest of their lives. Have they not EARNED the RIGHT to be paid more than a union plumber?????

Just my view.

Totally disagree, and disagree that you can put doctors in the same sentence with teachers (I am one by the way) social workers, policemen or any other government worker.
The public has to pay taxes, it is therefore force, legalized theft. Therefore the less any government worker is paid the better. As doctors are usually NOT government employees, its up to the private sector what they get paid and they do not belong (therefore) in the category with the others who are govt workers (unless they work as private school teachers or security guards, etc). Govt workers have amazingly good tenure, benefits, etc etc etc and should be paid far LESS in money because of that.
