I agree russet, business is business, but there was a certain ugliness involved here which is clear for all to see. Partners should not treat partners in this fashion. Barrick was invited in to a good thing and they tried to get all the benefit for themselves at the expense of ARP and ARP shareholders.
The single deposit that is currently being drilled on Valadero is huge, rich and growing everyday. There is potential for muliple similiar deposits on Valadero and other adjacent ARP property. This is one of the best prospective areas in the world for extremely large and economic gold-silver-copper deposits. The eventual development of Valadero will clearly fund further extensive exploration of the ARP property.

Hello russet;

Your posts are an interesting read, although they are laden with thoughts regarding someone who wish's to also make out like a bandit, and I don't blame you for trying??

"Since the Barrick bid was first introduced, ARP has doubled the resource,
especially with high grade, oxide ore in Amable. A two dollar and something
company is now worth four dollars and something, and climbing. Maybe Barrick
should offer them five or six additional drills and a some workers to run them, free
of charge for the next three months as a start to healing some of the wounds. This
would be a double win for Barrick, good PR and a chance to prove up more
resource for themselves (Barrick still owns 9.9 % of ARP and 40% of Veladero)."

You seem to be forgetting that the $2.00 and somthing company is now worth more as a result of Barricks offer??

As for Melnyuk leaving, is it that hard to figure out, he quite literally screwed up with this, he could have had a lock up for $6.50 or whatever the price was and ABX would have had it very cheaply at that price, he tried to nickel and dime them, he is now gone??

He penny antied for a mear 70m more?? now the price will be higher??

Still no one else is stepping up to the plate??.........interesting??

Also don't forget that ABX still owns 9,9% and 40%?? this is very important??

With regards,Frank

Russett,

Not only did Barrick fail in their takeover attempt, but how does it look when your broker calls (due to the tender offer) and asks if you would like to sell your shares at below market value?? It is an insult to your intelligence. Takeovers are done at above market value, not below. A company of Barrick's stature should know this.

I expect Barrick will be back with a real offer, above market value, in the near future.
