Excellent interpretation of the past weeks events, do you think you could make an educated guess at the near term price?

Your post is interesting and thought provoking. It raises one question. Why do you suggest that the market makers have taken a short positon. What reason would they have to take a short postion over a long postion. In fact, if you were a market maker, why not take NO postion, just buy and sell as the market dictates and make your money on the spread, period.

In fact, is that what a market maker is supposed to be doing. Is taking a postion, long or short, a way to make extra money for them?

I wish they acted impartial and let the market drive the price higher or lower.

Can anyone who acts as a market maker respond.

When you talk about Market Makers, are you talking about the designated market makers who underwrite a stock, or are you talking about private investors with enough clout to move the stock??
