What you are describing is not love--i.e., the trophy wife crap.

I'll stand in here for FT (quelle idee!): This is a free market exchange. It is worth $70 million to Johnny Carson to have a luscious-looking armpiece. (I once asked a man to accompany me to a wedding for which the invitation read, "and guest," by inviting him to be my armpiece. Never you mind about the rest....)

She exchanges her ability, because of her youthful beauty, to make him the envy of other men and--maybe--to make him feel like hot stuff in bed for his ability to move her into circles she wishes to join.

This is not love. This is economics and, perhaps, philosophy and psychology.
