gmccon, Where 160MM? Truck smuggling or diversion of funds from the oil quota I suppose. Lets not be too smug, while the US is obviously air dominant, nothing ever stays the same in weapons science, someday someone will figure their way around a HARM missile. More significant is the fact that this is a slap in the face to US From Russia with (un)Love, and indicates a hardening of anti western influences in the Kremlin a la Primakov. Unless this is just saber rattling and a bargaining chip for more US bucks, its not good news. Chinese are also buying more MIGS?

I don't see how the Russians think arming the Iraqis will help get the sanctions lifted. Seems like their action will just extend the hostilities. I think maybe they're trying to prove they're still a world power, even if no one takes them seriously. They were really upset the way the US ignored their objections to how Iraq is handled. In the good old Commie days the US would have consulted with them every step of the way. How is Iraq paying? Good question.
