Glenn I dont have any intention of spending 20 minutes composing a post to KIS, and you are correct I did not back up my assertion that Amzn has a superior website and technology than say, barnes and noble. Unfortunately since I dont have any inside knowledge of the implementation it is difficult to back up with facts in any case. However I will say that I have purchased from both B&N and Amazon and B&N has never been able to make a worthwhile recommendation (in fact, initially they didnt even feature that technology). On the logistics front I moved recently and B&N was unable to locate me with my Texas address and I had to register as a new customer - which of course meant my history was gone so maybe there went the recommendations? In any case I am an avid reader (how many of you are?) and I attend 3 book clubs where -everybody- prefers Amazon to Barnes and Noble - why do you think that is (since they generally cost the same)? Primarily technology and website design, as well as some promotional differences (author comments etc) is my take on it.
