Siqueiros should be more widely known imho, his works on Zapata, Cuauhtémoc Contra el Mito, Historia de la Humanidad, etc are central to mexicana culture and history. Several striking trípticos . He would have agreed with Rivera who told Rockefeller 'All art is propaganda', and took the concept to similar sublime levels. S influenced an Albertan named Belkin to become an artist as well as a mexicano who now has his works displayed in the Bellas Artes [most if not all of the copies of the works of Siqueiros and Rivera displayed internationally were done by Belkin, but his own works are worth seeing as well, they show the View from the North, the fanaticism of the convert - add that to mexicano symbolism and you get a potent mix -g-]. The wife of a friend, recently arrived in el DF on an arts scholarship from Presidente Echeverría, met Siqueiros shortly before his death and was involved in a petition to the government to honor him more than might otherwise have been the case. .... his work is on the net, but i can't find his pieces that i like and so post none. He's worth seeing live, imho.

Of course, we can't overlook the possibility that he's sold out and is working for Monsanto -g-
