Scumbria,
"..Gateway had one AMD product line three weeks ago"...

----
Gateway would have had a AMD line 3 months ago had AMD had enough K6-2-400s and K6-3s. They were ready but AMD wasn't.
Maxwell knew it. What Maxwell couldn't see was that the deal was put on hold because of AMDs production problem. AMD simply couldn't take on another K6-2-400 customer nor was the K6-3 ready. Maxwell gave good information but AMD flunked out. The same thing happened to some of the "too high" earnings estimates for the quarter. Who'd have thunk' that if AMD shipped 5.5M chips (they actually made closer to 5.8M) that they would only have made $.15/shr?
In retrospect, the idea of a 366 and 380 chip should have been a tip off, not to mention at 300 and 333 AFR66.

Jim

scAMDria - Re: "Who would have believed it four weeks ago?'

Who would have believed four weeks ago that AMD would pull out of two Analyst/Investor conferences, halt their stock, then announce an IMPENDING loss this quarter ?

Probbaly the same people who four weeks ago DIDN't believe Cherry Sanders when he predicted AMD's margins would RISE to 40% this quarter!

Kurlak believed Sanders, unfortunately.

That's why Kurlak got canned at Merrill !

That just proves what can happen when you believe in AMD - like you do!

Paul
