But surely, your ADSL connection is much faster than the modem you used before? Since the fastest modem is 56K and the slowest ADSL is usually 256K, you should be getting a lot more speed and responsiveness from everything. You do have to configure RealPlayer to take advantage of the new speed and even that will only make a difference if the server (like BloombergTV) pumps out a fast stream, but in many cases you should see a marked improvement over a modem connection.
