chirodoc,

There is just one big flaw in your logic. If the Trial falls in favour of the DOJ (and all evidence is looking like the JOJ will win), then MSFT will not be able to go on its "Buying Spree" because of the official "Monopoly" status that it will be labeled as. Anytime MSFT will want to buy another company it will be either not allowed to heavily scrutinized for trying.

So I dont think MSFT will be allowed to go on this buying spree that you predict it will. In fact, I think that is why MSFT has not just gone out and bought Banyan for its Vines technology (to save MSFT's butt with its Active Directory slug). It cannot afford to draw even more attention to itself and monopoly abuse.

Sorry chirodoc, I dont think that is an option for MSFT to save itself from its impending rough road that will start getting more bumpy as of this summer.
