thank you for the 4.5 input. i printed your post for reference when i install the browser. reason i am doing so much research in advance of installing 4.5 is that i already tried it on both of my puters. it installed seamlessly on one (my wife's!!) but it wreaked havoc with mine. so i went back to nn3.0. but i recently have experienced really clean installs by literally shutting down everything except explore. so i'm going back after communicator 4.5 :) plus, i'm making sure i don't lose mail, addresses, and bookmarks. i'm looking forward to it. great thread, isn't it? mark
