You left out the part that in the same editorial they repeat that he shouldn't have been removed or impeached.

Neocon,

Good post. I had no idea the Washington
Post would actually find principal at this
late part of the game.

Compare then and now:

Andrew Johnson was impeached by Republicans
and tried in the Senate. He was not convicted
because several Republicans simply did not
want to damage the Presidency and put the
Constitution ahead of their personal hate of
the President.

Bill Clinton was impeached by Republicans and
tried in the Senate. He was not convicted
because the Democrats put their party, and
the President above the Constitution.

It was not a good day to celebrate anything.
