HL finishes drilling at Sunset property and despite drilling in the wrong direction - still hits some nice gold grade in one of the holes. from a Cimmaron release Cimarron Minerals Ltd. has received results of a preliminary drilling and mapping program by Hecta Mining Company. Hecla completed a five-hole reverse circulation drilling program, including one abandoned hole, totalling 4,650 feet. The drilling tested gold mineralization in the MaryAnn Basin portion of the property associated with two structural sets trending north-south and northeast-southwest. All the holes were drilled from east to west at azimuths between 265 degrees and 230 degrees, and at a -45 degree inclination. As a result of the drilling and geological remapping of the area, it has been determined that the main north-south structural set dips to the west, rather than to the east as had been anticipated by the drill orientation, and that the drilling therefore did not properly test the target structures. This work has also determined that there is a second gold mineralized main trend fault subparallel to the main MaryAnn mine fault, which is being referred to as the east MaryAnn fault. Drill hole HS-1B did intercept 1.5 metres of 22.3 grams per tonne gold and 46.3 grams per tonne silver within 10.7 metres averaging 4.1 grams per tonne gold between 278.5 metres to 289.2 metres downhole. The gold is associated with quartz-sericite-pyrite alteration and quartz stockwork-veining within andesitic volcanic rock, and with anomalous levels of arsenic. This intercept may be from the drill hole either clipping or cutting through the east MaryAnn structure at an acute angle. Several other sections from the drilling intercepted similar material with anomalous levels of gold and/or anomalous levels of arsenic and mercury. The program has determined that high-grade levels of gold are present in unoxidized material at depth in the MaryAnn Basin area, and indicated that the intersection of the north-south and northeast-southwest trending structural sets are targets for testing for high-grade gold mineralization. Hecla has informed Cimarron that it intends to return to the Sunset property next month to complete additional mapping and surface sampling prior to formulating the next phase drill program.
