Jeff, that Ike is always digging up interesting stuff.<g> The truth on traders influencing markets past predictability is baloney. Since when have they been predictable before traders? PE ratios have ranged from 6 to 30, interest rates, gold, oil, bio techs, techs.. none were predicted with any accuracy to gross overvaluations or gross undervaluations.

Its the nature of markets to seek both the line of least resistance and greatest opportunity. Traders are only a shorter micro cycle manifestation brought on by instant communications. Everyone has a voting machine and they're free to use it daily, hourly, its channel surfing.

Volatility isn't a new reality, its actually lower than previous times. You can look at volatility as the price change over time or the price change over the number of trades. When the number of trades accelerates then the only way you can dampen the effects of volatility is to shorten your time exposure... Day trading is the expected outcome of a nutrient rich and available information environment.
