Lost at sea and the passengers would be held hostage for days, weeks, the food will run out, the toilets would stop working and you'd have to hang your heinnies over the railing. As Is that the US military, the one that falsifies Y2Kompliance statements, or are you talking about some other military? Maybe the fighting ships of the Imperial Swiss Navy or the war canoes of the Monarchy of Hawai'i are good to go; come on DD and Rev Tim, hula with me, swing those hips ..we throw our nets, out into the sea..." the hands, the lovely hula hands tell the story, hand motions now. > far as YOU have been able to tell me, there are no stories of ships being > found to NOT compliant. You don't have to BELLOWsco at Harlan, I understand he's getting on in years, but dag nabbit, he ain't deeef. > So I think that here, on this issue, you are just out of the water. And he Y2Kloses with a line suitable for a 1950's TV show. As usual, Howie misses the point. We have less than 11 months to go before the singularity, an event that has never happened before. There should have been evidence of the work done and completed 2-3 years ago. It should have been an international priority in 1995. Each time an issue is raised (usually in c.s.y2k first), there's a few months of hee'ing and haw'ing, is it an issue, what are the facts. Finally, almost as if humanity gives in, someone starts slogging away at it. Shipping is at the slogging away stage. It's not done. I originally raised shipping about a year ago after I stumbled onto Lloyds' Ship2000 website after an Alta-Vista frenzied night. Commercial ships are still an open issue. C.s.y2k'ers know this. Don't tell us to prove it one way or another. The state of commercial ships is an open research item. Howie, having been one of the sedated on a cruise ship, feels qualified to huff at Harlan rather than click up Lloyds and do his own research. We'll know that shipping is a non-issue when Lloyds of London says it is. And yes, there are two Lloyds in London, one is maritime insurance and the other is maritime research. Both must say that ships are Y2K OK before I'd believe that it's true. cory hamasaki 319 Days, 7,671 Hours, Less than 11 Months Send your Y2K Contest submissions to Y2Kcontest@hotmail.com You know you're in Y2K trouble when ... howie belasco says "no problems with ships, trust me." milne starts storing food for a third year. the Y2K groundhog blasts the reporters with an AK47.
