I saw your post on SI. A couple of logical questions.1) If ALA already had the BEL contract -Why in the world would they be interested in helping WSTL(LU) by offering the chipset. If anything I would expect them to say "HA HA Get Lost". 2) If BEL is now officially buying their DMT from ALA in the short term AS WELL AS THE LONG TERM-- Why was there no official announcement made? I just find it hard to believe that ALA would be Providing their chipset to WSTL if their were not handcuffed to do so. Again, Richard, can you give me one logical reason as to why ALA would do that? The only 2 scenarios that I can come up with are that WSTL gets BEL or ALA is going to but WSTL. AS for the languishing stock price--Remember when I told you about AWARE's Chairman back when the stock was in the single digits. It is brutally apparent to me that WSTL needs someone like AWARES COB who has worked in the stock/futures industry and who can push the right buttons. Kudos to you Mr. Stewart for the job that you have done with AWARE. Want to lend a hand.

ALCATEL modems or WESTELL modems?????

We all knew that eventually Bell would migrate to DMT sometime in 1999. We hopefully figured that Texas Instruments would deliver to Westell for this capability. Well that has not happened yet! But to our surprise we get a contract for DMT chip from Alcatel! Looks like to me that Bell wants delivery of DMT now starting in NY area this quarter! The big ? why did Alcatel deliver DMT to Westell? These very well could be Alcatel DMT modems in NY, However as rampup builds and AOL comes in to play in the summer around June, which is the same time that Westell is to be ready with there DMT modems for mass deployment it very well could be that Westell will be a modem supplier from that point on! There probally will be multiple modem suppliers! We are talking about huge huge deployments here and multiple vendors would be in order! From what I have read and heard Westell offers one fine performing modem. This company does not know how to PR very well but they do know ADSL! Alcatel still makes money with the use of the Westell modems. A win win situation for them. So yes IMHO Westell will be involved in Bell Infospeed deployment in the future! And there is also the possibility that Alcatel may buy out Westell. All this will play out over the next few months! Its the financing issue and the DMT chip delivery that leads be to believe that a buyout by Alcatel is a good possibility!

All the best,
Michael

P.S. Who is Richard?
