Frank, You are completely wrong! What you say they are doing is exactly what is illegal! You seem to have NO concept of what Anti-Trust laws are all about. Read up on them for an hour. A company with a monopoly CANNOT use the monopoly as a leverage to gain marketshare in another unrelated product or service. You admitted yourself that MSFT did give its browsers away for free and they also did put the product on the same CD as their Win95OSR2 and Win98. This is something that its competitors CANNOT possibly do. When I installed Win95OSR2 last week, I didnt see MSFT give me the choice of installing Netscape Communicator as opposed to IE. MSFT's IE did not erode Netscapes huge browser marketshare lead because they had a better product. They eroded it because the illegally leveraged their monopoly of the Desktop to STEAL marketshare from Netscape. Illegal, Illegal, Illegal. I should learn to be more clear about my points - lol. As for IBM's mistake, think about that for a moment. Did you ever think that IBM did not buy MSFT and its DOS because it might not have been able to without being scrutinized by the DOJ after their lengthy Anti-trust litigation. We can all guess why IBM didnt buy MSFT and keep the PC OS for itself. I will make the assumption that they are not that stupid but in fact were not politically able to buy MSFT to grab the OS platform. So please try to put some grey matter behind the response. Learn the basics of Anti-Turst laws before posting. Toy
