Machine guns have been outlawed since the 30's and even the NRA has no gripe with that.

A machine gun is to the Second Amendment what obscenity is to the First Amendment - I think this is a valid analogy. The problem is the anti 2nd amendment crowd refuses to acknowledge any difference between a bb gun and a machine gun. Their intent is to eliminate guns of anykind within the boarders of the USA. I do not deny they have a legitimate point of view. Let them state their goal honestly - revoking the second amendment - and then argue it in the court of public opinion. They know they will lose that argument today so - consequences be damned - they are trying to accomplish their goals another way. The old ends justifying the means B.S.

Your other post hints at the bigger problem - Are we losing control of our country by letting civil courts determine policy that ought to be made by elected legislatures? The answer is obviously yes.

Oh and one more thing...

"G'day all - DMA, the devil is in the details. I do not think our founding fathers have ever envisioned the fire power one can obtain from your friendly local gun shop. Per chance, have you seen the 60 minute segment"

I don't think the founding father envisioned TV, radio & the internet either, but do our First Amendment rights not apply to them also?
That is were your argument against possession of assault weapons fall short.

Enough on that, this strings supposed to be about Tobacco & not firearms.
Kind of funny, we have covered 2 letters of the ATF in this string, when will somebody start yelling about alcohol?
