There is no question that taxes are higher. The population is really quite small, given the land mass, and trying to keep those roads open during the winters is expensive. (g)

While Canadians are very much like Americans, there are some differences both good and bad, which account for our grudging acceptance of those higher taxes.. A little more conservative, a little more reticent, a little more inclined to be content with things as they are, definitely in love with the country in spite of the winters, a bit more inclined to worry about looking after the guys and gals who are limping (which accounts for much of the higher taxes,...trying to find the right balance drives all of us crazy). Definitely faster drivers (and usually poorer for it,...radar is an awesome device), and less inclined to take financial risk (drives me bonkers). The taxes drive us all crazy, but at least the deficit is slowly but surely being attacked. Now if only the "Looney" would fly a bit higher. (g)

Best, Earlie
