I have real time quotes thru my on-line broker which are critical - you especially have to see the real time bids and asks. I use Big Charts and Quote.com Charts on a delay, but they don't always load. I am unable to use the real time charts because I am on a mac.
When my trading capital increases, I'm buying a windows system so I can have live charts and audio alerts..

If you need real time quotes and alerts wherever you are, there is a promotion going on for a Quotrek box (from DBC). The receiver is being offered for free. I guess you have to be in certain areas to receive the radio broadcasts.

I called (1-800-225-0636, x4131), and found out that the monthly fee is $119 for NYSE and NASDAQ quotes (less for an annual plan).

Another option is to use a real-time quote system that can send email alerts (Mytrack or Etrade can do this), and then carry an alphanumeric pager or cell phone that can receive email.

This way, you can watch for alerts wherever you are.
