On reflection, L M Ericsson must be feeling they are on the horns of a dilemma with cdmaOne, cdma2000, VW40 and WWeb.

Maurice: "I think a better system is to have a price auction - the base station puts the price up as the load builds so that new callers get a sign on their handset saying "CURRENT PRICE IS $30 per minute", "Press SEND" to accept these charges. That way urgent calls could always get through. No more busy signals."

Very interesting idea, I like it! The only problem is, would it send out this information all the time, which would be a drag. Also, what happens if I get a cheaper rate and am connected, and the guy next to me has to pay twice as much. He wouldn't be too happy. Would I stay connected or get asked to accept a higher charge whilst the call is in place or get kicked off? Still like the thought behind this though.
