James 1

19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

The vocal Christian's testimony is always on public display in whatever they say or do. The book of James speaks at length about the tongue, our speech.
Think of the little displays of temper we may have around our families or acquaintances and the effect it may have upon them especially when they involve trivial matters. What testimony are we giving?
A friend shared this story with me stemming from an experience he witnessed as a child some fourty years earlier....
As a young lad he would often visit his adult neighbour who always shared bits of the bible with him and who as he now knows was a Christian.
One day while visiting the neighbour in his garage he observed him atop a ladder hammering some item into place in the rafters. With a misplaced blow of the hammer he smacked himself soundly on his thumb and tripped while attempting to descend and fell with a crash to the garage floor. In obvious pain the man curled up on the floor clutching his thumb and whatever parts of his anatomy pained him and uttered repeatedly...."Oh, praise the Lord!"
My friend remembered this for years to come.... and as an example of Christian testimony after he had given his heart to Christ.
