Mary, I have very little knowledge of the purchasing side of things, but have been on the development side for a long time. I am not sure how the budget issues get managed, but I have seen very few major h/w upgrades (desktops, servers, everything) over Christmas. In fact, servers may be a different story these days because of e-commerce and ISPs, but desktops should still be the same. It is one major PITA to configure and roll out 50 new boxes, for example, because of the way Windows setup works. Warning: I am a die-hard Unix person. :-) -BGR.
