Dropping good stocks along with the bad
That kind of overreaction means that there might be bargains in the Internet sector. In this kind of selling panic, investors almost always trash good stocks along with the bad. To find out if anything is selling at an attractive price, of course, you have to be able to value it. This isn't any time to be buying an Internet stock just because it's cheaper than it was a week ago -- there's absolutely no guarantee that the stock won't get even cheaper. I think I've found one gem in the rubble, however. Let me explain what I think is happening in the sector now and why I think America Online (AOL) is starting to look very attractive.

yeah....I remember that day.....my 11K of C shares went from $$110 to $182....or thereabouts...and I sold $60K worth...that afternoon...not quite at the top....around $169 if I recall...

what a nice day! smile...gave me some more money to pay towards my taxes!

Yes...I love ATHM...it is fast fast fast....and the two...would be terrific partners.....and since I use Excite as my portal page...(like lining up the various portfolios and the news..)...that would be very cool...

Of course...we won't talk about losing $374K on C stock in the late summer....had to really scurry to make that up...moved to a Roth....and bought some hot hot hot Internet stocks...with the C money...decided not to wait for Weil to work his magic....when he gets finished....and C starts to move....I'll reconsider..buying some C back....wait a minute...still have some C...let me go look...yeah..I forgot...still have almost 2K shares in options...darn...need to do something about that! thanks for reminding me.... I forget about those options...sometimes....hmmm..should it be more CMGI...or NETA(kinda low these days...!! buy low!!) more AOL...or even some more Dell....hmmmmmmm....

have to give that some thought....Mary....

like your crystal ball!! smile

a mega-merger of AOL and ATHM.

Not likely, AOL and AT&T already did a merger dance once. No sparks. Might happen again, but don't hold your breath.
