Thanks, PDL, and Mary. I agree that a killer ap is what is needed for broadband, although even when it arrives its growth rate will be limited by the number of hookups, and the numbers I have seen call for only 16M (total broadband) by 2002.

Mary: I agree that wireless has a lot of potential, but I have concerns about Teledesic, based on cost. Space systems is my background, so on the one hand I am excited about the potential of low earth orbit systems, but on the other hand the technological challenges and the cost would give me concern. Look at Iridium, and the cost of a phone call and handset.
