More than half the people who die of handgun injuries are suicides. I think that using a gun to commit suicide can be a very rational act, and it is a lot more effective than gas, poison or cutting your wrists, unless you are lucky enough to have access to some really good poison. I would rather shoot myself than choke to death on my own vomit.
