Gee, what a surprise.

The first round of moving the manufacturing base was actually beneficial to HK. I remember many friends who own factories commenting about how China saved HK by dropping the labor cost, which was escalating to non-competitive levels.

Yes, HK then transformed into a financial center. However, who needs them this time?

I suspect that much bad news is around the corner. The strong yen gave China no excuse to devaluate the yuan. It also gave S Korea a big boost with their exports. It cannot go on forever. The yen is down today and probably should be down a lot more. Is there Asian Contagion II, the sequel?
