Craig,

Perhaps that explains the problem.

Slot 1 are in short supply.

Socket 370 is in oversupply.

I am sure the big OEM's prefer just building 1 Motherboard and then finishing the product via customer orders.

If Intel split the production between the Slot 1 and the socket 370 this can explain the shortage.

Obviously the lead-times for the Socket 370 will be in 8-12 week range when we consider offshore manufacturing lead-times.

As AMD parts simply use the super 7 boards which are available readily from inventory, this could explain the snafu.
