Your note reminded me, a woman I was very good friends with, we don't see each other anymore, but I remember very clearly, her mother committed suicide when she was in her teens and she always blamed her father. You're right, there is that dynamic.

My husband's mother died of an accidental overdose of sleeping pills and liquor, about twenty years ago. We can't talk about it, because he can't talk about it. I don't know whether it was suicide, she didn't leave a note, but I believe it was. In her case, I suspect she was just lonely. Or maybe it was just a miscalculation. Who knows.

The family all had dinner, and visited together much as usual. He was home from college, and going back right afterwards. He was closer to his father. I don't think he was there for the funeral because his plane reservations were for before the funeral. Which tells you something about the family, I'd say. He was 21 at the time.
