TS -

You're probably right about the amount of software actually 'invented' by MSFT. After all they didn't invenet word processing or spread sheets but they did nevertheless do a much better job marketing them and supporting them than many others.

MSFT however it got there isdoing a great job for all us users. Maybe someone else could do it better but it would take a great deal of convincing to get me to change.

As for porstals well I really don't think that the browser is quite as important as you have suggested. For instance as I said originally I use AOL not MSFT to access the web and I do it around the world as I am doing now. I could care less whose browser I use as longas I can get AOL.

A much bigger concern for the whole indutry is that if I could get AOL on CE then I would probably get a hand held like a Journada with instant on/instant off. I would then not need a full blown lap-top!!!

Soon Qualcomm is going to offer a really fancy wireless net access via MSFT and then the browser becomes even less important as the wirelss carrier is bound to introduce his own opening page with or without a browser.

Regards,

L
