Re: DELL

Barb, larry, Roger, and Bill W.

Did you notice that during the Oct 8th, 1998 selloff, Mikey Dell was quick to say he had no Asian problems and everything was alright?

Also, is Michael Dell scheduled for CNBC or something like that after the earnings release?

I think there might be some significance to the lack of DELL's comments. Of course we will have to wait until the earnings release, due to the quiet period, to find out for sure.

But if DELL is not assuring the market that things are hunky at the release, then its time to sell.

One thing is for sure, at 52 inventory turns (1 week average inventory turn), DELL does NOT have good visibility.

Barb -

I hadn't remembered that IDC report. I stand corrected. On the other hand, Dell's revenue was up for 98, yes? Yes, I do realize that having an expanding share of a shrinking market would not be a good thing.

As I think about it, though, I must say that you may be right about Dell anyway. They are enjoying price multiples that may not be justified by their real growth rates going forward.
