I don't really expect a company like FDX to get involved in the residential end of it; local companies can do that much more profitably, and residential buyers will be willing to accept slightly slower time for better prices. But businesses will be ordering from the net as well, and any way you slice it, there's going to be a lot of goods moving around the world. I expect to see partnerships developing, with large-network companies like FDX handling bulk loads among regions and smaller companies doing the actual deliveries.

E-commerce is still new, and it is not very clear how the delivery end of it will evolve into a profitable enterprise. I think it will, though. Have faith in entrepreneurship!
