The acquisition is Zip2.com. It is a private company. Would that be the company responsible for zip files? It sounds like it is an acquisition to build up the technical capability, rather than the content.

We begin to get an idea of the equity value of AV. It came as part of the DEC acquisition and it could be argued that we got it free. But there must have been a valuation placed on the AV component when it came. In any case, given its 9-12th plave ranking among portals, and its technology, the market would have a pretty clear idea of the value of AV even before the recent acquistions. Does anybody have any idea?

On top of the basic AV there is Shopping.com which cost $300 million (but many would argue that this was overpriced). Now there is Zip2 which cost $300 million. Have there been any other acquisitions since the DEC acquistion?

EP said he was throwing out figures, this morning, but mentioned the need to raise $2 billion for AV. This is much more than commentators have been estimating. Kumar for example thinks that the whole of AV is worth $2 billion, but EP is talking of raising $2 billion from the spin off of a minority stake.
